Pendragon VI launched in Auckland

Nigel Price sent these images of the new Pendragon VI, a Laurie Davidson design for US West Coast based owner, John MacLaurin, who has been a long time supporter of the New Zealand designer.

Pendragon VI was built at Ian Franklin Boatbuilders in Christchurch. Construction is of pre preg carbon over a Nomex core. The boat was shipped to Auckland for launching and rigged with a www.southernspars.com!Southern_Spars carbon fibre rig.

By the end of the first race, the sea state was still relatively flat but with the wind averaging 22 knots and gusting to 27 it was 'survival' for some.

The racing effectively started from the beach with sailors anxious not to miss the start With light winds forecast, many of the fleet expected a delay to racing with the afternoon forecast suggesting a firmer breeze. That said, the race committee had other ideas and sent the fleet out to course Kilo, once again, for an intended 11am start.
