A Class Nationals at Christchurch attract a star-studded field

The A Class Catamaran New Zealand Champs are being held on Lyttelton Harbour, Christchurch from Monday 21st through Friday 25th.

Fresh from the A Class Worlds are 3 NZ sailors, local sailor Murray Philpott (5th and World Grand Master champion), Mike Drummond (6th) and Blair Tuke (World Junior Champion and 49er Silver Medallist).

Additionally the International Paper Tiger Champion has purchased an A Class and will be at the Nationals over the first three days for training as he then has to attend the PT Nationals later in the week, which is an unfortunate overlap.

Locally there has been strong interest in the class with several new sailors joining the fleet, and so a good turnout with mixture of North and South Island boats is expected.

The A Class Worlds are being held at Takapuna, Auckland in 2014, so this event will be a good gauge of the wider NZ fleet a year out from the Worlds.
