RS500 World Championships set for Gottskar

The RS500 World Championships start is fast approaching and there are lots of RS500s moving around Europe as I type, as competitors make their way to Gottskar, Sweden, where the event is being hosted by SS Kaparen on the beautiful Onslala Peninsular of the Kungsbacka Fiord.

40 boats from eight countries will meet to compete in the fourth RS500 World Championship. The fleet is becoming known as the ‘race hard, play hard’ fleet of the RS family, and that takes some beating! As well as 10 hard-fought races, there will be plenty of parties with the normal Dutch invitation, Italian Mafia Party, and, of course, Viking Games. I don’t know what that means but it sounds dangerous.

The racing takes place from Monday 5th–Friday 9th August, with pre-Worlds coaching taking place on Saturday Event website
