Worldwide search stops with Hart Marine

The ORC 18m for Port Phillip Sea Pilots. BIA VIC http://www.biavic.com.au/
BIA Victorian member Hart Marine was awarded the contract to build an ORC 14.3m and ORC 18.1m Fast Pilot Craft for the Port Phillip Sea Pilots.

The hunt was on to replace their existing fleet. After a worldwide search and after much research the ORC 14.3mt and the ORC 18.1mt Pilot Boats designed by Pantocarene were selected.

Pantocarene is at the forefront of pilot boat design in Europe for a number of key aspects. Self righting, unique OCEAN 3 fender system, suspended wheel house for reduction in noise and vibration, composite construction and its proven resale value.

The Port Phillip Sea Pilots were aware of Hart Marine’s reputation. They are known for being one of Australia’s leading composite construction boat builders. Discussions then took place in early 2009, resulting in the company being commissioned to build the two vessels.

Mal Hart, Managing Director said about the project, 'As a Victorian company, we were proud to have the support of the Port Phillip Sea Pilots to take on this project. We enjoyed the challenge of building the vessels and were pleased that the Port Phillip Sea pilots chose to keep the project within Australia'.

The synergy of European design and Australian manufacturing was an obvious choice. The pilot boats were launched in June this year. The vessels are receiving unheralded attention.

Hart Marine successfully completes projects of some of the most technologically advanced carbon racing yachts for owners in Australia and overseas. Hart Marine are also experienced in building winning racing yachts and custom pleasure crafts.
