The latest Volvo Ocean Race entry, Team Vestas Wind, is making good progress towards her preparation for the 40,000nm race around the world.

Her initial target was to be splashed on August 21, 2014, followed by sailing trials, pull-down and two days of crew safety training. She first sailed on August 22, 2014.

Next is the 2,000nm qualifying 'cruise' where the Volvo 65 will head out into the Atlantic.

All going well she will finish the qualifier at Alicante and is expected to race in the In Port Race on October 4, 2014. Leg 1 of the Volvo Ocean Race starts on October 11, 2014.

Although no additional crew announcements have been made it is understood that Team New Zealand crew members Rob Salthouse and Tony Rae have joined the crew.
