This will be one of the most international editions with 48 nations from the five continents. A total of 600 boats and over 900 competitors will participate in the Majorcan regatta, the most important sports competition in Baleares to be held from next Saturday to Friday 21 March.

Among them, the best world crews of each class, and specifically the 2004 Athens medallists and the last World and European champions of each class.

The ten Olympic classes and the Dragon as invited class participate in the 39 Trofeo S.A.R. Princesa Sofia MAPFRE. The classes will be distributed in eight racing areas in the bay of Palma. In the four clubs, a human team of 275 persons will work to assure everything goes to plan, both ashore and afloat. And up to 170 organisation boats are needed to organise this big sports event.

Races will start on Sunday 16 March for Olympic classes. Qualifying and final rounds have been scheduled with the Medal race to be sailed on Friday 21. This race scores double, cannot be discarded and is reserved to the top ten classified teams. The Dragon class will start sailing on Monday 17 to complete ten races throughout the week.
