Thai Hobie 16 Nationals

by David Brookes on 16 Nov 2003
The Thailand Hobie 16 Nationals concluded today at Royal Varuna Yacht Club with husband and wife team Peter and Juliet Bates become the eventual winners.

The racing at the top end of the fleet was extremely close with the top 3 all winning 2 races in the series. Behind the Team Bates was another husband and wife team David and Susan Race who tied on points with Steve Fields. Team Race won on a count back which showed the close racing.

The big winner was the Asian Hobie racing circuit which has had some big regattas in Hong Kong, Philippines and Thailand. Team Bates won 2 of the these events sending a clear message to Hobie Cat Asian sailors that they are the most consistent sailors in Asia.
