Sail with Brindabella on a world record

by Mainsheet Media on 6 Apr 2011
Brindabella - 2004 Rolex Sydney to Hobart Race Ian Mainsbridge www.all2easy.com
In early May this year the iconic Australian maxi yacht Brindabella will be attempting the Around Australia World Record and you can sail with her.

The world record attempt is being made by Save Our Seas, an organisation dedicated to raising awareness of the damage that plastics are causing to our environment. Found Ian Thomson holds the solo around Australia record and this time he will be joined by a committed crew, many of whom have gone through a exhaustive selection process to be on board. Over 123 crew applications were received from around the world with only nine being successful.

Now, for the very first time you will be able to sail on an Australian event using the international website Virtual Regatta. Virtual Regatta has enabled people around the world to join famous races such as the Velux 5 Oceans and the Trophee Jules Verne. For the Vendee Globe over 340,000 virtual sailors joined in. Using Virtual Regatta you too will be able to sail around Australia on Brindabella and help to rid the world’s oceans of plastic. Challenge the crew, challenge your friends, and see if you can claim the online world record.

Follow Save Our Seas and Brindabella around Australia and in the lead up to the attempt as the crew compete in the Brisbane to Gladstone race over the Easter weekend.
