RS:X Youth Windsurfing World Championship Torbole Elena Giolai
Over 200 young athletes from 30 different countries are coming on the waters of Torbole, on the Garda Lake, for the Windsurfing Youth RS:X World Championship 2017 dedicated to the Rs:X Olympic class and planned from the 24th of June to the first of July.

An event of remarkable size, especially important and spectacular, organized by the Circolo Surf Torbole which ranks among the best - for its meticulous rigor and its proven ability - in the organization of international events.

Thanks to years of experience in organizing wide appeal events, not least the Techno 293 world championship of 2016 - with its 474 participants from 32 countries - the Cst has been able to create a full sized event around this sport competition, an event which will fully engage and involve not only the young Rs:X athletes, but also their families, the enthusiasts of this Olympic surf board and those of windsurf in general.

This effort and the result it earned was made possible by the partnership with Garda Trentino Spa (Gold sponsor), Hydro Dolomiti Energia and by that of the ever present Cassa Rurale Alto Garda. The media attention around Torbole and its Circolo Surf for this exciting youth world championship will be high. For this reason the organisers have worked hard on all sides of the image of this competition.

A collaboration was made with the Libera Accademia delle Belle Arti (Laba) for the realization of the logo for the Youth Rs:X World Championship 2017, so that both the symbol of the Garda trentino lake territory and that of the Cst will stay on after the end of the competition.

During the world championship the exposition 'La mostra dei Loghi' will be set up by Laba's students, to show the research behind their creation and its origin and meaning. The screens of the Circolo Surf Torbole will also show many video clips and photo features to follow the competition minute by minute, creating from the very beginning total involvement and empathy among the athletes, their families and the spectators.

All the photographic and video material will then be collected to document these young Olympic Rs:X athletes' experience. Also important for both the respect of the ecosystem and the good image of the community will be the eco-sustainability: the race will be completely eco-friendly thanks to the use of 100% recyclable materials.

But between the 24th of June and the first of July there won't only be the world championship: the Garda Lake Rs:X U17 will also take place, and much more still. The official programme will start in the morning of the 24 June but will be preceded, for those attending, by the world championship teams' parade (evening 25 June) through the streets of Torbole: a folkloristic moment to join sport and city and thank the latter for its hospitality.

The Parade

The parade wasn't just that but a real event, livening up the streets of Nago Torbole and the whole lakefront and opening Circolo Surf Torbole's most important sporting event: the youth World Championship for the Olympic class Rs:X.

Thirty nations are taking part to the event and have lined up yesterday evening for an emotion filled parade starting from the official lakefront headquarters of Torbole's Circolo. Two hundred people will take part to the event, including coaches and families who are following the athletes to live with them first hand this great occasion.

Torbole is going to be the setting of a competition which goes beyond the definition of 'World' Championship. These youths represent the future of the next Olympic Games and it's no chance that during these days there will be a number of observers, mainly for the Italian team, who are going to decide the line-up of the national team taking part to the 2020 Olympic Games.

This is what happened the night before the official beginning of the Championship, which on Monday will see the first sailing on the waters of the Garda Trentino to test the winds and weather and marine conditions. The boards have been rated , the sails checked and adrenaline has already started flowing. Tension and emotion then, but most importantly some healthy competitiveness, which Circolo Surf Torbole has managed to house in its internationally recognized, peculiar and unique organization.

Torbole's Circolo has been organizing for years now a great number of internationally relevant events, all of which assure us this Youth Rs:X Championship will be a high-quality competition. Many Italian athletes will be competing to get to the top ranks in this competition.

The young and athletic river of the nations, flowing to the drums' rhythm, has colored one of the most beautiful glimpses of the Garda Lake. The opening ceremony was attended by Italian and international representatives of the Rs:X Olympic class, the major of the city Gianni Morandi, the president of Trentino Coni Paola Mora and by the president of the Circolo Surf Torbole Armando Bronzetti, who personally wished good luck to all the athletes competing in the championship, asking them to do their best for this competition to be a high quality sporting event characterized by the respect of the Rs:X class rules. The World Championship can start and the whole city will take part to the celebrations.
