Product of the week- Seasickness glasses nominated for DAME award

by Sail-World Cruising on 4 Nov 2013
Nominated for a DAME award for innovation SW
One of the scourges for those who wish to go to sea is seasickness. Even the most experienced of sailors can be overwhelmed at times. Now a company which has created an amazing new solution has been nominated for a DAME Award, the world's number one international design competition for new marine equipment and accessories.

The Awards, for innovative new products, have enormous industry prestige and a worldwide commercial impact. To win the DAME is the ultimate accolade for companies and innovators, and all the nominations for the award are seen as trendsetters for the next generation of product development.

In the category of 'Clothing and crew accessories' a company strangely called 'boarding ring' has invented some anti Motion Sickness (Sea sickness) Glasses.

How do they work? The manufacturer explains that motion sickness is caused by a sensorial conflict between eyes and inner ears. The liquid levels inside the glasses show a 'virtual horizon' to the peripheral field of view, following the real motion which is felt by inner ears.

It is claimed that the glasses avoid, definitively and permanently, motion sickness. They also recommend that you should not simultaneously take medication, as this will negate the effect of the glasses.

Amazing? Yes, certainly and well worth trying for those who are afflicted. (ANYTHING is worth trying, as all those who suffer will agree.)
