The Beneteau First40 'BRAVO', owned by Queensland's Bob 'Robbo' Robertson, won both Division Three IRC and also Division Three ORCi in the 2016 Rolex Sydney - Hobart Yacht Race.
Featuring Pontos Grinder winches on the cabin top and primary positions, the yacht also utilised Pontos trimmer winches for the mainsheet and finished the 608 mile course over an hour and a half in front of the next placed First40 'Ariel'.
The result was the culmination of a 12 month campaign which has seen the yacht evolve and the addition of Pontos winches was instrumental in allowing the crew to develop a highly efficient process in nearly every aspect of line handling.
In particular the use of the Pontos Grinder 46s on the cabin top made it possible to eliminate whole steps in the normal sequence of raising both headsails and spinnakers.
After an initial introductory period, the crew were finding more ways to harness the power of the Pontos winches.
