Boaters are reminded to keep clear of a section of Lake Jindabyne this weekend for the safe staging of the Alpine Ascent Triathlon Festival.
Roads and Maritime Services has granted an exclusive use aquatic licence to host the event on the lake between 12pm and 1pm on Friday 18 March and 6am and 1pm on Saturday 19 March.
On both days an event area will be established on the lake within an area roughly square in shape extending from the Clay Pits to 1000 metres east near the Lake Jindabyne Holiday Park, then north to include the Lion and Cub islands.
The event area will be marked with inflatable buoys and monitored by control vessels.
Vessels not involved in the event should not enter the marked area unless authorised by a boating safety officer or a police officer.
Roads and Maritime reminds people to wear a lifejacket when boating, especially in vessels smaller than 4.8 metres when alone, at night or offshore.
