Annapolis Sailboat Show - World Cruising Club USA to feature boat

by World Cruising Club on 3 Oct 2014

Join Andy Schell and Mia Karlsson, event managers at our World Cruising Club USA base, for the 45th edition of the Annapolis Sailboat Show. For the first time, WCC USA will be featuring a boat in the show (in lieu of a booth this year), to demonstrate what it takes to make a classic cruiser into a proven bluewater voyager.

The boat will be on display in slip S-12, and its owner, Dennis Schell, will be on hand most of the weekend to discuss the technical aspects of its refit. Dennis sailed Sojourner south with the Caribbean 1500 to Tortola, then headed down island to St. Lucia and home again last spring. He’ll be leading the way with the ARC Bahamas fleet this year, bound for the Abacos. In addition to the boat, Andy and Mia, along with Andrew Bishop and Jeremy Wyatt from the UK office, will be hosting several fun and informative events throughout the week.

Friday, October 10: World ARC Breakfast Forum, 8-10am

Join Andrew Bishop and the UK team for an informal look at World ARC. Andrew will discuss the route in detail, benefits of joining the rally, what to expect, equipment requirements, crew logistics and more. A great place for Q&A with some coffee and continental breakfast. Register here (it’s free!).

Friday, October 10: Boat Show Happy Hour, 6-8pm

Join future and past rally participants at Chesapeake Sailmaker’s loft in Eastport for an evening of refreshments, like snacks, and sea stories! Please register (it’s free!) so we can get an accurate headcount.

Saturday, October 11: Ocean Sailing Forum, 8-11am

Andy Schell will be moderating a panel discussion at O’Callaghan Hotel on West Street on all things ocean sailing. Following an hour of light breakfast and mingling with other sailors, the panel will start promptly at 9:00 and features Scott and Jennifer Brigham of the Valiant 40 Pendragon, Paul and Sheryl Shard of the Distant Shores tv series, and SAIL magazine cruising editor Charlie Doane. Register here. Price includes a free boat show ticket for Saturday!

If you have any questions about any of the events, have trouble signing up, or just want to say hi, contact Andy or Mia on 757-788-8872 or at carib1500@worldcruising.com. See you at the boat World Cruising
