Al Hamra Yacht Club and Marina has announced a new management and vision for the forthcoming year. Focusing on the lifestyle and practice of yachting, Al Hamra’s new operator, Henderson International, has appointed Toby Haws as Manager to oversee the upgrading of the marina and creation of a new yacht club environment.
'Al Hamra Marina has all the infrastructure the modern yacht owner requires,' explained Henderson International’s Managing Director, Alan Linnitt, 'But it has always lacked the attraction of other marinas. With the appointment of a new manager and a range of events on the horizon, this will soon change.'
The Al Hamra Yacht Clubhouse overlooks a 200-berth marina, offering restaurant dining and a private member terrace with views over the Al Hamra lagoon and out to sea. Further facilities include a fuel dock, slipway, swimming pool, chandlery and a string of boutique shops set to open later this year.
'We wanted a manager who would bring a sense of value to the Club environment and an understanding of what the region’s boat owners want from their berthing and boating experience,' continued Linnitt.
'As editor of Boat Owner Middle East, ex-manager of Dubai Marina Yacht Club, author of the Explorer Guide to Dubai Yachting & Boating and a committee member at Dubai Offshore Sailing Club last year, if he doesn’t know what boat owners are after, then no-one does!'
Upgrading its facilities to cater for yachts up to 50 metres in length, with a dedicated service facility and chandlery, the marina is now accepting berthing applications for the forthcoming season, while the clubhouse with its two bars, conference suite and terrace restaurant is open every day for dining and sundowners.
'We aim to make Al Hamra Yacht Club internationally recognized as the first and last port of call in the UAE,' said Toby Haws, Manager of Al Hamra Yacht Club and Marina. 'We have extensive plans for increasing both the facilities and value added service bertholders, visitors and future yacht club members will receive. We are investing heavily in both yachting and Ras Al Khaimah, as together they make the most ideal cruising and racing environment, as anyone who comes to visit can testify.'
According to Haws, events planned for the marina’s forthcoming season include rallies to Dubai and Abu Dhabi, a number of sailing regattas and a host of clubhouse entertainments.
Al Hamra Yacht Club and Marina is situated on the Northeast corner of the Al Hamra lagoon, in Ras Al Khaimah. Developed as part of the Al Hamra Real Estate project, Henderson International began its management contract in July 2010.
Facilities include: 200-berth marina for yachts up to 50m, slipway, fuel dock, water and electricity, wi-fi, service facility, parking and security. The 60-cover clubhouse restaurant has inside and outside terrace dining options, while the first floor bar and conference room has an extensive terrace overlooking the marina and Arabian Gulf.
