Southern Spars is delighted to announce the appointment of Alexis Reeves as Rig Pro’s New Zealand Manager.

Alexis is a highly experienced rigger whose knowledge of the marine industry is second to none, and he is well positioned to provide the world class level of service and expertise that Rig Pro is known for.

'I’m delighted to have the opportunity to take up this role with Rig Pro NZ. I’m committed to taking our operations to the next level and to ensuring that the rig service you get from us is quite simply the best in the world', says Alexis.

'Whether it’s a 50 metre superyacht or a five metre harbour racer we can help improve the performance and safety of its rig.

'As a keen sailor myself I understand the needs of the industry and am here to help.'

Originally hailing from a boating family in the south of England Alexis has worked in the marine industry for over 15 years.

He began as a boat builder for the iconic Sunseeker Yachts before his love of sailing caused him to relocate to New Zealand. In Auckland he pursued a career in rigging under the tutorage of one of New Zealand’s most respected marine riggers. After a brief diversion to Australia to gain some experience in commercial rigging he returned to New Zealand and began working for Rig Pro in 2008.

In addition Alexis has managed multiple superyacht rig refits and service jobs, as well as working widely on some of New Zealand’s top high performance racing yachts.

Work commitments aside Alexis is a keen boatie with a number of offshore and inshore miles behind him. Highlights including racing and campaigning successfully an A Class Catamaran over several seasons, race crew on Zefira in a number of major Mediterranean and Caribbean superyacht regattas, and several offshore delivery trips.

Alexis has also become heavily involved in Auckland’s thriving classic yacht scene, racing and cruising on a variety of classic yachts, and recently buying his own classic launch to restore.
