Dawn Riley to speak at GPYC USA Junior Olympic Sailing Festival

Dawn Riley will be at the Grosse Pointe Yacht Club (GPYC) USA Junior Olympic Sailing Festival and will be speaking about how a girl from Detroit ended up chasing her dreams, racing around the world twice and competing in four America's Cups and how her current project Oakcliff Sailing, is helping other aspiring athletes chart their course.
Dawn Riley is one of the best-known sailors in the world. As CEO and Captain of America True, Dawn was the first woman to manage an America's Cup sailing team. She is also the first American, man or woman to have raced on three America's Cup teams and two Whitbread Round-the-World Race (now Volvo Ocean Race) sailing teams. After which, she was the general manager of the French Team, Areva Challenge, her fourth America’s Cup challenge. She is former President of the Woman’s Sports Foundation, founded by Billie Jean King and is active in many public service and political activities. Dawn serves as a board member: of the NGB – US SAILING and the SCS Democratic Club.
Dawn is a much sought after motivational speaker. She is currently executive director of the Oakcliff Sailing Center, a non-profit training and coaching center in Oyster Bay NY. Oakcliff has completely unique programs from team-building to a tuition based residential program for those under 30. Through these programs, Oakcliff is helping America regain its leadership position in the sport.
