2012 Soling Europeans day 3.
Cloudy in the morning but with some sun shine just before and during the first race, the bay of Aarhus delighted the Soling sailors with an increasing wind intensity from Southwest, starting at the first race with six to eight knots of wind, then eight to ten at the second race and 10 to 15 at the third and last race of the day.
Despite being in the northern hemisphere, longer days, and a theoretical summer happening, the temperatures never were higher than 13 degrees even lower when sun was totally hided by the typical low clouds.
At the first race a big shift to the left made those starting at the pin and going left a big gain putting veteran and former Masters’ champion GER 308 Karl Haist with Martin Zeileis and Patrick Wichmann followed by team Edding ARG 37 with Gustavo Warburg, Rodrigo Ferres and Miguel Lacour and in third GER 292 with Thomas Scherer, Andreas Baumuller and Jens Thoma, in fourth USA 832 with Charles Kamps, Jeremy Mcmahon and Hans Meyer and in fifth NED 33 with Rudy den Outer, Gavin Lidlow and Razmi Souli.
The second race with a bit more wind saw former Masters and European champion team Audi Ramadabalaton with George Wossala, Peter Nemeth and Richard Ludwig lead from the first mark until the end, it was not a easy race, being followed by GER 304 Thomas Maschkiwitz, Stefan Wenzel and Christoph Wossala, the finish was just a boat length difference, this gap was almost during the whole race. In third NED 33 followed in fourth by former twice world champion GER 1 Roman Koch, Maxl Koch and Gregor Bornemann, in fifth the current European champion GER 323 Uwe Steingross, Karsten Eller and Tim Giesecke.
The third race, now with more wind but temperatures that decreased nicely , and despite along the race team Edding ARG 37 were always fighting amongst the top leaders, it was at the last beat and last downwind that they jumped to step strong for the title of the championship, winning this freezing race followed by current World and Masters Champion CAN 225 Peter Hall, Bernd Vree and William Hall, in third GER 1 followed by GER 323 and DEN 1 with Mogens Jorgensen, Kim Jorgensen and Allan hoist Sorensen who happens to be the best Danish team so far in the event being at the eighth place overall.
Team Edding ARG 37 leads the championship followed by Dutch NED 33 and in third current European Champion GER 323.
