by Des Ryan on 5 Jun 2012
Hollowell Sailing Club - panorama SW
In every sailing country of the world it is the volunteers who make a sailing club successful, sometimes giving up many hours of their year in the interests of seeing the club thrive. So the spirit evident in the UK's RYA Sailing Club of the Year, this year won by Hollowell Sailing Club, is something that sailors round the world will recognise. Why did they win it? Watch the video:

About the Club:
The Club, managed by a committee of volunteers, was founded in 1966 so 2006 was our 40th Anniversary.

Hollowell Reservoir is set in an attractive valley in the North of Northamptonshire just off the A5199 near the villages of Guilsborough, Creaton, and Hollowell. Leicester is approximately 20 miles north, and Northampton 10 miles south. When full the water area is 114 acres, with ample dinghy parking within easy reach of 5 slipways. Sailboard racks are also available

We offer great dinghy sailing and windsurfing and excellent facilities at very attractive subscription rates. The Club caters for sailors of all abilities, and is particularly proud of its Junior membership and youth squad which meets regularly throughout the season.

For information email membership@hollowellsc.org.uk or visit www.hollowellsc.org.uk.

Loads of amenity - Goes like a cut cat
As the first Cure 55 steps closer to being splashed it looked more like a Purosangue to me As the first Cure 55 steps ever closer to being splashed, I could not help thinking that it was a lot like the Ferrari Purosangue. More space than your typical two-seat hypercar, yet with the punch to dispatch distances and pretenders with complete ease.
