PowerDive for marine business and pleasure

by Jeni Bone on 4 Jun 2012
PowerDive 1 SW
Invented by a Qantas pilot and manufactured in Perth, PowerDive has been in operation since 1997 and exhibited at SCIBS since then, this year recording 100% sales increase on last year.

At this year’s event, PowerDive was located on Masthead Way in prominent, high traffic position, and thanks to good weather, the company experienced strong sales.

'We beat last year’s by 100%, which was excellent. But last year’s weather was terrible,' says Aaron Hawke.
One of the benefits of being unique in the market and returning annually to SCIBS is consumer recognition. 'We are really well known now so people come to the show to see us,' explains Aaron. 'Most of the people we meet and of course, our customers, have already seen it.'

Split between recreational and commerical use, the PowerDive is positioned as the most advanced form of Surface Supply Diving Systems (formally known as hookah diving).

'People can buy it to clean the hull of their boat, and they can also use it recreationally – all models can be used for either.'

PowerDive was created for those who enjoy the simplicity of snorkelling and would like to experience the wonders of breathing underwater, explains Aaron. 'Its unique, patented shallow water diving system bridges the gap between snorkelling and scuba diving.'

PowerDive is safe and easy and does not require certification although it is recommended you undertake diver training prior to diving. Even if you have never snorkelled or have only basic swimming skills, PowerDiving is accessible to children, adults right up to seniors.

'Our PowerDive equipment allows children as young as eight years of age to participate. It is a great way for a certified diver to introduce non-certified partners to the underwater breathing experience.'

PowerDivers breathe underwater by means of a 12m airline which is connected to a floating 12 volt compressor on the surface that follows your every movement. The airline allows you to tour underwater near the bottom, at mid-water or on the surface depending on your level of comfort. There is no heavy diving gear.

PowerDive’s range of hookah diving systems are ideal for safe, fun, family diving, they are also the perfect tool for boat maintenance and emergencies, hull inspections, marina and mooring maintenance, diver training, resort introductory diving, marine science studies and research, pool maintenance, golf ball retrieval and disabled diving.

The PowerDive units are light, compact and portable and range from deck mounted and free-floating units and are available in electric and petrol form. Electric units are more suited to families and fun, whilst petrol units are for more suited to commercial applications.

From their base in WA, PowerDive exports worldwide and attends boat shows internationally, with no competitors, according to Aaron. Units range in price from $1,500 to $2,995

Judging from this year’s results, PowerDive will be back for SCIBS 2013. 'Most definitely,' concurs Aaron.
