Kiwimatch Sailing Team - Match Race Germany

by Kiwimatch Sailing Team Media on 24 May 2012
2012-05-22 10.53.33 - Match Race Germany Logan Fraser
Kiwimatch Sailing Team descend on the small, lakeside village of Langenargen this week for the first event on the 2012 Alpari World Match Racing Tour, Match Race Germany. Nestled on the shores of Lake Constance, with the Swiss Alps as a back-drop help make this a spectacular location to open the World Tour.

As well as being the first Tour event of the year, this will also be the first event for Kiwimatch Sailing Team as official Alpari World Match Racing Tour Card holders. This will certainly add to the pre-race anticipation as the Kiwimatch look to prove itself against some of the old guard of the World Tour and also hope to stamp some early dominance on the other new teams.

Raced on locally designed and built Bavaria 40S keelboats, Match Race Germany is renowned for its light and tricky conditions. As expected, the event line-up also has plenty of potential stumbling blocks hidden within. Joining the established names such as Bjorn Hansen, Peter Gilmour, Steffan Lindberg and Karol Jablonski is a young, hungry bunch of newer names like Keith Swinton, Simone Ferrarese and Eric Monin. All these teams have the potential to be a real handful and Kiwimatch will be looking to cause a few headaches of their own.

With the first race kicking off on Thursday 24th keep up to date as the action unfolds at www.wmrt.com or the official event website www.matchrace.de. Kiwimatch Sailing Team will also be giving updates at www.kiwimatch-sailing.com.
