The Cayman Islands Sailing Club and National Sailing Centre held its first CII Clinic March 14-18 as part of the annual Cayman Sailing Clinic. Seven CII sailors participated from Canada, Barbados, Jamaica, Singapore, and the Cayman Islands. The clinic was run by Jon Emmett, British sailing coach and 2008 CII World Champion.
The clinic included four days of light to medium wind training. The conditions were perfect to focus on boathandling skills and the athletes all made tremendous improvement. The National Sailing Centre of the Cayman Islands has seven CIIs for charter and will continue to run clinics in 2009 and 2010. The Centre is an excellent training facility and is only 10 minutes from the local airport. The Cayman Islands will host the North American Qualifying Regatta for the 2010 Youth Olympic Games.
