Sean O’Brien, six-time Australian Formula Windsurfing Champion and new face on the PWA Slalom World Tour, has teamed up with his personal trainer Nic Pillonel from Switzerland, to develop a windsurfing-specific training program available to download from their newly launched website.

The ‘GetWindsurfFit’ program was developed over the past five years that the two have worked together on Sean’s fitness regime, keeping Sean injury-free for his entire windsurfing career at the professional level.

As well as competing full-time on the Windsurfing Pro Tour, Sean has spent many years coaching Australia’s elite windsurfers in the RS:X Olympic Class and running Formula Windsurfing clinics around the world. His success as a coach culminated in 2009 when Australia’s Jessica Crisp took home her first ISAF World Cup gold medal in Melbourne, under Sean’s tutorage.

Much of his success on and off the water Sean attributes to staying injury-free during his 9-years competing on the windsurfing pro tour, and a strength and conditioning program fine-tuned over the last five years has played an important role in his successes.

Now based in Australia, Nic Pillonel has had over 20 years history in sport and fitness and owns SuperFit Personal Training operating in Brisbane, Australia. After working with Sean over a 5-year period, the duo have developed a revolutionary training program for windsurfing, focused on getting sailors of all fitness levels ready for a long summer of windsurfing.

The simple, proven system can be used at home or at the gym to achieve strength and fitness conditioning to improve performance on the water as well as increasing overall fitness and enjoyment whilst windsurfing. The program is offered as an 84-page, colour eBook available for download through the website.

Sean, on fitness for windsurfing: 'Competing on the Windsurfing Tour throughout my career has put incredible stress on my body. Adding strength and conditioning work to my training has helped me stay strong and importantly, prevent injuries that are common in our sport. Windsurfing alone is simply not a good enough single-source of exercise'. Getwindsurffit website
