Double Honours for the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club

by RHKYC Media on 18 May 2012
Mark Bovaird, General Manager Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club, collects the awards ABA
The Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club received double honours at the recent eighth Asia Boating Awards. The winners of the Asia Boating Awards were chosen by an independent panel of industry experts familiar with the Asian and international yachting scene.

On collecting the Best Asian Yacht Club of the Year award on behalf of the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club, RHKYC General Manager Mark Bovaird said: 'I would like to thank the organisers, Asia-Pacific Boating and China Boating, together with all the judges and sponsors for this fantastic award. We are extremely proud to receive the award and the recognition that goes with it of all the efforts of our members and staff who constantly strive to promote and develop our core sports of sailing and rowing both within Hong Kong and in the international community. Thank you very much indeed.'

Mr. Bovaird was soon called up again to receive the Best Asian Regatta of the Year award for the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club’s China Coast Regatta. Regarded as a 'sailors’ regatta' due to the physical and tactical demands of the series. The event is based at RHKYC’s Kellett Island and Middle Island facilities.

'The China Coast Regatta is one of our signature events and I would like to thank, on behalf of the Club’s members and staff, everyone at Asia-Pacific Boating and China Boating and all the judges and sponsors for this award. In what were extremely difficult wind conditions at the last staging of this event, everyone connected with the Regatta worked tirelessly to produce a competitive and enjoyable event and we are extremely proud to receive this award. We hope to see you all at the next China Coast Regatta this October.' said Mr. Bovaird.
