Tahiti Pearl Regatta preview

by Denis van den Brink on 15 May 2012
Tahiti Pearl Regatta 2012 SW
Tahiti Pearl Regatta ninth edition is being held from 16th to 20th May 2012. Pierre Dinard's 2003 great idea has grown, thanks to a small group of Tahitian enthusiasts, into the greatest Polynesian regatta. Yachtsmen from Australia, Japan, the US, France and Polynesia will all meet tomorrow at the opening of the Race official village set up in Uturora on the dream island of Raiatera. Registrations will be open all day and entries will fill three different classes, multihulls and monohulls according to the french sailing federation HN sailing rule (Handicap National).

The Tahiti Pearl Regatta provides an ideal balance between competition and a festive discovery of preserved and enthralling islands. This year's race will send the 40 entrants between Raiatea, the sacred island, Bora Bora the Pearl of the Pacific, Huahine and Taha’a.

The Tahiti Pearl Regatta is opened to any kind of sailing boats (monohull, catamaran, trimaran, private or charter ship, on transpacific stop-over...) of any size. Races take place under the authority of the Tahitian Sailing Federation and are governed by the rules of the ISAF (racing rules of sailing Tahiti Pearl Regatta website
