Sydney International On-Water Boat Show 2025

Exclusive use area on Sydney Harbour this weekend

by Penny Robins on 10 Apr 2012
SW
Roads and Maritime Services has granted an exclusive use aquatic licence for the safe staging of the swimming component of a triathlon this weekend, 13th to 15th April, on Sydney Harbour.

Maritime Acting Principal Manager Sydney Operations and Service Delivery Steve Black said boaters should keep clear of Farm Cove, Sydney Harbour from:
• 2.30pm and 4.30pm on Friday
• 7am and 11am on Saturday
• 6am and 10am on Sunday.

The exclusive use area will be defined by a line drawn between Bennelong Point and Mrs Macquaries Point and will include the entirety of the navigable waters of Farm Cove to the south of that line.

This area will be closed to all unauthorised vessel traffic between the above times.

'For safety reasons, skippers should keep clear of this area as it will be restricted for the event – the ITU World Championship Triathlon - and patrolled by control vessels,' Mr Black said.

He said unauthorised vessels would not be permitted to enter the exclusive use area unless authorised by event organisers, a Maritime Boating Safety Officer or a Police Maritime NSW website
