Combat, police and rescue watercraft leader moving into Australasia

by Mercury Marine Australia on 10 Apr 2012
Three running Mercury Marine
One of the world’s foremost suppliers of combat, law enforcement and rescue watercraft is expanding into Australia.

Brunswick Commercial and Government Products (BCGP) has linked with Mercury Marine Australia to service government and commercial agencies across Australasia and the Pacific region.

Whether the mission is combat, special operations, security, law enforcement or fire/rescue, cutting corners is simply not an option. That’s why BCGP builds superior quality, durable boats purposely designed to meet the specific objectives of the job, and then backs its boats with unmatched customer service and support.

'We operate in an extremely competitive market, but this is all we do and we’ve been doing it since the 1960s so I’m very confident there are many agencies in this part of the world that we can help,' said Jennifer Butera, general manager of BCGP, who flew into Australia to finalise the agreement with Mercury.

'The boats we build are customised to meet mission needs. That means we have to be excellent at listening, to fully understand what a craft is supposed to do, so we can then design and build exactly what is required.'

In fact, BCGP’s website – www.brunswickcgp.com – has a 'Build a Boat' section that lets potential customers select a specific body type and size, and then customise it with their preferred options. This is then sent to the BCGP team for review and costing.

Under the new agreement, Mercury Marine Australia will have access to the full line of BCGP models ranging in size from 5 to 15 meters, which includes Boston Whaler Commercial fiberglass boats, Impact rigid inflatable boats, and Sentry aluminum patrol boats.

Along with the highly skilled team that builds the boats, BCGP also employs experienced law enforcement, fire/rescue, commercial and military personnel to help design them.

'Without that kind of input, it’d be like developing a car without having a clue how to drive,' Jennifer said.
