Tricky conditions in Palma for the Canadian Sailing Team

Palma delivered much of the same conditions today, winds hovering around 7 knots mixed with sloppy waves. Word of the week is 'TRICKY'.

David Wright (RCYC) made a huge move today in the Laser class posting his best results of the regatta, 10, 4, shooting him up the ladder to 17th overall. Wright currently sits 15 points outside of medal race contention. The Aussies and Brits are in a tight battle at the front with only 2 points separating the pack.

Radial sailor Isabella Bertold (RVYC) put herself back in medal race contention with a 3 in her second race, moving her back into ninth overall. Erin Rafuse (RNSYS), arguably sailing her best regatta, also posted a 3 and drop, and currently sits in 19th. Netherland's Bouwmeester has been dethrowned by Cebrian from Spain with a tight 6 points seperating the two.

Percy/Simpson (GBR) took over the lead in the Star fleet with their point spread extending even further. Canadians Clarke/Bjorn (RVicYC/RStLYC) round out the battle group in 10th and despite some equipment issues today are ready to roll up their sleeves for the final few days of battle. The top 10 still remains very competitive and will certainly offer some excitement down the home stretch.

The tricky conditions continue to take their victims as Tingley sailed his drop today slipping back only one spot to eighth overall. Thierry Schmitter (NED) maintains a comfortable lead in the fleet posting an impressive 4 straight bullets in the last 2 days of the event.

Chris Cook (RCYC) had another decent day in Finn waters hanging on to the top 10 with 14,9 and sits in eighth overall. Douglas (RCYC) had a more difficult day moving back to 26th position. Once again, Ben Ainslie (GBR) making his intentions clear, posted two bullets today and extended his lead even farther from second place rival, Zach Railey (USA).
