Humpybong Yacht Club, Woody Point is preparing for an Easter extravaganza when the club hosts the high performance Nacra catamaran 2012 Queensland championships.

Humpybong Yacht Club President Matthew Johnson said over 30 top sailing teams from throughout Queensland will attend the championships sailed on Bramble Bay from Good Friday 6 April 2012 to Easter Sunday 8 April 2012.

'We are expecting a big fleet of the Nacra 5.8 and F18 speed machines and representative fleets from other Nacra classes to give excellent, high speed and very spectacular racing over the Easter break.'

'Queensland’s 2011 yachtsman of the year Michael Guinea from North Queensland has nominated to take part and he will be joined by the Australian National Nacra 5.8 champion Mathew Caldwell and other top sailors.
'Racing will be hard fought and no quarter will be given as the high performance catamarans blast their way around the course.' Mr Johnson said.

Competitors will be using the 2012 Queensland Easter championships as part of their lead up to the F18 Nacra Infusion Worlds which are to be held on the Gold Coast in 2013.

Queensland Nacra Association President Warren Guinea said top international sailors from the United States, England, Italy, France, Germany and Scandinavia and other European countries will be arriving on the Gold Coast next year for the Fastway 2013 Nacra Infusion Worlds.

'We expect the cream of the world’s top sailors to attend the Fastway 2013 Worlds.'

He said many Queensland and national competitors will be using the Queensland Easter state titles as key preparation to ensure they give the best possible team performance for the Fastway 2013 Worlds.
People will be able to see the on-water action from around Bramble Bay and are welcome to meet and speak to the competitors and inspect their high performance catamarans on the foreshore at Woody Point.
