MJM Yachts - World leader in smart fuel-efficient Powerboats

by Robert Hawke on 1 Apr 2012
Built in four sizes, MJM Yachts has become the most technologically advanced, semi-custom brand on the US market and is now available here in Australia. MJMs generally get twice the miles per litre of similar sized boats at 25-knot cruising speeds.

The key difference is MJMs are built using more costly, higher quality, composite materials and methods such as high pressure impregnating of stitched biaxial Kevlar and Eglass with epoxy resin prior to laying the fabric in the moulds. Epoxy has three times the flexural strength of polyester or vinylester resins… making the boats more agile and fun to drive.

Build Quality = Fuel Efficiency

Since fuel efficiency is primarily a horsepower to weight ratio, a welcomed result was doubling fuel mileage. MJMs generally get twice the miles per litre of similar sized boats at 25-knot cruising speeds. Unlike automobiles, this fuel efficiency was achieved without compromising style, comfort or performance.

To further warrant MJM’s superior quality, they are built to exceed tough structural requirements of the International Standards Organization (ISO). For example, the MJM 40z exceeds the highest CE Mark Class A Ocean standard by a substantial margin. ISO standards are based on polyester resins with a 50:50 glass to resin ratio, while MJMs are built with longer-lasting, waterproof epoxy resin with a 60:40 ratio.

MJM Yachts philosophy is based on the premise that today’s experienced boater will only buy a boat they fall in love with. Therefore it has to be perfect. Timeless classic lines, leading-edge technology, versatile and easy to use at the drop of a hat, functional, fun to drive, efficient, a performer, low operating and maintenance costs with minimal environmental impact and backed by a hands-on builder with exceptional customer service. While initial investment in such a vessel is higher, it offers the best guarantee for daily enjoyment and long-term asset value. 'To buy anything less than what one really wants at any price, is no deal at all!'
