The 2012 RS:X World Championship finals series began with strong breeze.

Crews were again challenged in Cadiz, Spain with Australian Sailing Team member Jessica Crisp ending day four 16th overall.

The breeze was again gusting up above 30 knots on Cadiz Bay and with the strong winds predicted to continue for the rest of the regatta the 2012 RS:X World Championship could be the class’ windiest on record.

Crisp went into the first day of gold fleet racing 21st overall and moved up to 16th by the end of the three races.

Crisp started the day with an 18th with her results getting better as the day progressed, with a 12th in race two and 10th to finish the day.

Going into the final three days of racing Crisp is 20 points off 10th position and a spot in the medal race, with plenty of opportunities to improve.

Australia’s three representatives in the men’s competition had a mixed day on the water with tight racing in both the gold and silver fleets. Luke Baillie is the only Australian in the gold fleet and ended day four in 56th overall while Jimmy Levy is 78th and Patrick Vos 96th.

Racing continues in Cadiz on Monday with full results available here

The loss of the last 'dress rehearsal' is something of a disappointment Although there was just enough breeze to execute a couple of meaningful practice starts, the breeze dropped away and thereafter proved insufficient to allow the planned two short official practice races to be sailed today off Porto Cervo.

Grand Final not run yet, but our Hobart coverage begins with something very cool Maybe a tad earlier than last year, which I think was after the Grand Final, but the 100th entrant seemed like a good place to set things off. Now with that said, Sail-World's Hobart coverage begins.
