London Olympic Games 2012 - Ten sailing events will be held on the waters of Weymouth Bay and Portland Harbour during Sunday 29 July to Saturday 11 August.
Yesterday (Thursday 16 February 2012) saw the London 2012 Organising Committee (LOCOG) take temporary ownership of the Weymouth and Portland Sailing Village for the summer as it gets ready to house the competitors and team officials taking part in the Olympic and Paralympic Games Sailing events.
The RYA caught up with LOCOG Deputy Chair, Sir Keith Mills to tell them all about the handover event, what it will be like in the village during the Games, his views on British Olympic chances, and the legacy the Games will leave.
The Sailing Village, which contains 84 residential properties, will host some 1200 athletes and officials during the Games, with each house hosting around eight athletes. After the Games the apartments will be converted into homes for local residents, with 19 properties already having been sold.
