Clash at the Cove - Enter now! Enter here!

by Paul Shanaghan on 14 Feb 2012
Kia Kaha - will be competing in the Clash of the Cove 2012 Wayne Henderson

It goes something like this; Friday race from Auckland to Whangarei, have a party and prize giving, more races on Saturday. Then have a bigger party and more prize giving. Get up late on Sunday, have breakfast and cruise home.

If this sounds like your idea of a great weekend sailing event, put a crew together, http://tinyurl.com/6qrla6s!register_online and mark out March 2, 3 & 4 on your 2012 calendar and register now for one of the feeder races and Clash at the Cove regatta - Marsden Cove.

The ex World Cup and Med Cup front runner Kia Kaha now owned by Chris Hornell from the Bay of Islands is planning to line up with other similar yachts when the racing starts on March 3 at Marsden Cove. Kia Kaha, Reichel-Pugh design, formerly named 'Lexus Quantum' when skippered by Russell Coutts, is one of the latest additions to the New Zealand yacht racing scene.

The TP52s. Transpac 52 was established as a class for competitive yacht racing world wide and has also been campaigned by Team New Zealand.

The class is recognized by the International Sailing Federation, which entitles the class to hold official world championships and compete in one-class regattas such as the now infamous Med Cups.

The class was developed for both inshore and offshore racing and has been a huge hit wherever they compete. Kia Kaha will be the one to watch over the coming months.

Chris Hornell principal of the Bay of Islands Marine Centre has been yachting all his life and is well known for the past exploits of his Ross 40 Revs well known for its Auckland to Fiji races and around the New Zealand circuit.

The arrival of Kia Kaha will add to a now developing fleet of hot racing boats in this class and 52 foot range so we can only wait and see just how exciting these fantastic boat are to watch and sail on.
