by Media Services on 9 Feb 2012
Veteran of marine media, David Lockwood. SW
David Lockwood has joined the boatsales.com.au and BoatPoint.com.au crew as the group’s new marine editor, retaining his roles with the Herald group of newspapers.

A Sydney-based marine industry stalwart, David takes over the helm from Geoff Middleton who has accepted an expanded role across carsales.com Ltd's wider network of editorial sites.

He retains his roles on the Sydney Morning Herald and Sun-Herald where he has been a contributor for 15 years.

David is Australia’s leading marine editor. He has reported on the marine and fishing industries for more than 20 years. He is also acknowledged as one of the country’s most experienced boat testers.

David will bring these skills and experience to the online space, further cementing boatsales and BoatPoint's positions as the country’s leading marine publishing entities.

Geoff Middleton has been with the boatsales and BoatPoint team as Contributing Editor for 18 months. Geoff will take the new position of Chief Sub Editor across the marine, motorcycle and RV sites. Geoff will continue an active involvement in the marine sites (including boat testing) and will remain based at the carsales.com Ltd's head office in Richmond, Victoria.

carsales.com Ltd Editor-in-Chief Mike Sinclair commented the addition of David, and Geoff's expanded role, are key steps in the evolution of the company's wider editorial footprint.

'David brings to boatsales and BoatPoint a strong suite of editorial skills and very extensive knowledge of the marine marketplace.

'David has tested every major new boat model that's hit the Australian market in the last decade or more. He also has a strong appreciation of the challenges facing boat brands and businesses Down Under.

'We're very pleased to have been able to secure David's expertise and knowledge. It complements our existing team and will translate to more extensive coverage right across the marine spectrum.

'We're equally happy to be able to leverage Geoff's skills across our wider non-Automotive group of sites. Geoff will work closely with David and our RV and motorcycle editors to boost the level and quality of content across the whole network.'

carsales.com Ltd's non-Automotive sites include: Australia's top boating sites, boatsales.com.au and BoatPoint.com.au; caravancampingsales.com.au and number one and two motorcycle sites, bikesales.com.au and BikePoint.com.au.
