104th CYC Race to Mackinac to utilize YellowBrick Tracking

Chicago Yacht Club announced that the race tracking provider for the 104th Running of the Race to Mackinac presented by Veuve Clicquot will be YellowBrick Tracking Ltd. out of Brentwood, Essex in the United Kingdom.

'We are excited about our tracking partnership with Yellowbrick' said Race Chairman Lou Sandoval. 'They bring a diverse portfolio of proven experience in tracking sailing events at the international level with a depth of functionality.'

'Yellowbrick Tracking is extremely pleased to have been chosen as the tracking provider for the Chicago Yacht Club's 104th Race to Mackinac.' Said Nick Farrell, Director at Yellowbrick. 'We covered the Bayview Mackinac race last year with our new Yellowbrick version 3 tracking units. We are looking forward to working with one of the most prestigious races on the US yachting calendar.'

In addition to providing a first in class web-based race viewer, followers of the Race to Mackinac will also be able to download Yellowbrick's iPhone and Android mobile apps, enabling them to follow the race on the go.

The 104th Chicago Yacht Club Race to Mackinac presented by Veuve Clicquot will take place on July 21, 2012. Participation in the 333 mile race from Chicago Yacht Club to Mackinac Island, Michigan is by invitation only. Chicago Yacht Club looks forward to staging a world-class sailing race for skippers and crews. About the Chicago Yacht Club Race to Mackinac:

At 333 miles (289.4 nautical miles), the Race to Mackinac is the oldest annual freshwater distance race in the world. ‘The Mac’ starts at the Chicago Lighthouse, just off Navy Pier and continues to Mackinac Island. 2011 marked the 103rd Running of the Race to Mackinac, in which 355 boats competed in the fourth consecutive sellout of the Race.

The 103rd marked the third largest fleet in the history of the race with almost 3500 sailors participating. The Race has also amassed a strong following using technology and social networking; it can be followed virtually using Facebook, Twitter and its Race tracking interface.
