Derwent Hunter - now for day trips SW
There's a brand new adventure sailing experience available for those on a holiday in the Whitsundays - day trips on the 66-year-old tall ship Derwent Hunter. No longer do you have to commit to an overnight to enjoy a tall ship experience, with Derwent Hunter going to day-trips.
Director and owner of Tall Ship Adventures Jo Ladd said they were 'keeping up-to-date with the needs of tourism in the area.
'It was basically recognising that there's a niche in the market for traditional sailing options as day trips,' Ms Ladd said.
'At the moment there's only high-performance yachts and catamarans (offering day trips) and not everybody wants to stay overnight,' she said.
'Now we're making the tall ship experience available to families, weekend visitors, maybe people in the regional area and wooden boat enthusiasts.'
'We'll be running with extra crew members and we also have a marine naturalist who's working with us now.'
The Derwent Hunter, starting now, will depart on its day trips from Port of Airlie at 8am. For information call (07)4946 - 7124 or go to the website, www.tallshipadventures.com.au.
