Are you a desperate sailor? Perhaps you don't think so, but when you have read this great idea, maybe you'll WANT to be a Desperate Sailor. Why? Well, for instance, maybe you're cruising and you suddenly need to make a trip home. Desperate Sailors could find you a boat minder. You're in a new anchorage and desperately need a mechanic. Desperate Sailors tells you where the nearest one is

Maybe you've left it too late in the day for a longer voyage, but desperately need crew with good watch keeping experience. Desperate Sailors connects you.

Or maybe you arrive in a new anchorage and desperately want to know merely where the next social event is. Guess what - Desperate Sailors can connect you. Now you can relax and prepare for the pot luck, book swap, BBQ, boat jumble, open mic night...

How does it work? Like most other things these days, it's web-based. What you need to do is SIGN UP for FREE and create your CREW, BOAT OWNER or SERVICES profile now.

Friends: Stay in touch with cruisers that you've met in your travels (you must be signed up and logged in to use this feature).

Private Messaging: Contact other members through our private messaging system. Only you and the recipient can read the messages sent between you two (you must be signed up and logged in to use this feature).

Chat is easy. If you are looking at a profile, there is a green or red icon that will show if the member is online or not. If they are online and you would like to chat to them, click on chat. Easy (you must be signed up and logged in to use this feature).

Events: This feature enables you to tell the world and other sailors about a beach BBQ, a boat jumble, a happy hour, a birthday celebration, an end of season sale, an open mic night or whatever takes your fancy. To view events, from the main menu click on Events. To create an event, click on My Stuff, My Events, Add Event. You can also upload photos for your event (you must be signed up and logged in to create an event).

Guestbook: This is where you can leave a reference for someone that has crewed for you or perhaps done some work for you. Or if you'd simply like to say hello to one of cruising buddies, you can do it via the guestbook. Remember, anyone can read your guestbook entry. If you would prefer your message to be private, simply send them a message (you must be signed up and logged in to use this feature).

Blog: Our blog has a very simple format and is easy to update. And it can be read by anyone, even people that are not signed up with Desperate Sailors, so keeping your friends and family up-to-date couldn't be simpler. To create a blog entry, click on My Stuff, My Blogs, Add Entry....(you must be signed up and logged in to use this feature)
