Rolex Sydney Hobart- Images of Jessica Watson's finish

by Crosbie Lorimer on 30 Dec 2011
The final run to Hobart - Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race 2011 Crosbie Lorimer http://www.crosbielorimer.com
On a classic Derwent River afternoon, with the sun shining and a strong southerly pushing a large group of boats to the finish line under spinnaker, 18 year old Jessica Watson and her young team aboard Ella Bache crossed the line in fine style.

Finishing second in the Sydney 38 Division and within sight of the winning boat TSA Management, Ella Bache completed the race half an hour ahead of Deloitte As One, the boat skippered by Jessica Watson's coach Chris Lewin.

There will doubtless be much ribbing between student and master this evening.

Here are some of Crosbie Lorimer's images of Ella Bache's finish and Jessica Watson's reception on the dockside.
