Pittwater gives nothing away too easily - a win here is a hard earned win - 2011 NSW Hobie Cat State Titles Anthony Duchatel
NSW Hobie Cat State Titles 2011 will be hosted by Palm Beach Sailing Club this weekend 3-4 December. It's not too late to enter - NOR and Entry Form is available online.
The match racing will be tight and intense, and even with world champions in the fleet, capsizes and spills are almost a certainty, making for some great spectator action.
Entrants are coming from all over eastern Australia, with some great sailors participating - not just local champions, but also National and World Champions in various classes and age groups. Every kind of Hobie catamaran is able to race, and the perennial favourite, the Hobie 16, has competition in Youth, Open, Masters and Grand Masters classes.
The newer Formula 18 high performance Hobies like the Tiger and the Wildcat are also appearing, as are the fun boats like the original Hobie 14 and newer Hobie Wave. With over 100,000 Hobies in the world, a lot of interest is expected, as with all Hobie regattas.
Racing will commence on Saturday afternoon, and mid morning Sunday. The course will be set where the best breeze is, somewhere between Careel Bay and just beyond Barrenjoey, inside Broken Bay. The best viewing will be from near the Palm Beach ferry wharf, or Govenor Phillip Reserve past the golf course, or from Barrenjoey
