Sarissa, about as sleek as you can get... Tom Nitsch
A very special yacht. Sarissa's remarkable sleekness is what catches your eye first. This yacht will instantly appeal to the minimalist. She comes from Dutch Vitters Shipyard and is designed by Bill Trip and Rhoades Young Design - adding another high-performance, sportive and elegant yacht to sail the seven seas.
Measuring a mere 42.6 metres LOA, this refined vessel is the largest Dutch-built carbon fibre sloop to date and a perfect reflection of what state-of-the-art sailing yachts currently are all about. Merging technology with modern design, she provides a luxury environment for all guests and it's quite easy envisioning Sarissa sailing the seas of the world and taking part in regattas.
The superyacht's brief was for a beautiful, performance sailing yacht that combined family adventures with regatta-style performance. As for the interiors, the Owner was aiming for a modern yet warm and intimate atmosphere, reflecting that of an inviting family home.
Jochem Kaan took a personal look at this vessel, and here's his report:
What instantly grabs one's attention upon boarding Sarissa, is the spacious feel she offers, both inside and out. Large areas outside invite guests to stroll around on deck, enjoying the surrounding views and the vessel's magnificent design.
It is very easy to imagine oneself lounging about on one of the various exterior seating arrangements, varying from large fixed sunbeds offering full 360 degrees vistas to the more secluded cockpit offering ample relaxing sofas and, of course, a perfect setting for al fresco dining.
Bathing in natural light, the main saloon area spacious yet cozy, with large windows assuring guests with remarkable views. Starboard, a comfortable sitting area offers a big L-shaped sofa and three intelligently customized Barcelona chairs. Delicate railings have been applied to the back side, offering support for those walking by or standing to enjoy the view. It's with this kind of detailing that Sarissa sets a high standard, showing how to optimally use every inch of space, resulting in an overall sense of spaciousness throughout the vessel.
Situated opposite each other respectively, the more intimate port side lower saloon and study/guest cabin area, plus the galley and dining room area's can be found.
Below deck, ample more examples of intelligent design can be noted. Here, the yacht's four guest cabins and three crew cabins can be found. Aft, the full beam Owner's cabin, offering direct access to the outside aft deck area, possesses the vessel's signature feel of space and natural light, set in Sarissa's typical palette of light and dark wood tones with details of glass and brushes stainless steel. Her smart layout results in an area that feels bigger than it actually is, without downgrading on luxury and comfort. With an en suite bathroom, wardrobe, ample storage and office area these quarters offers the perfect retreat.
The smart illusion of spaciousness is integrated on several locations throughout. For instance, the lower deck hallways have been placed slightly diagonally in the layout, enhancing one's sense of space. Additionally, one of the guest cabins offers a secondary function as a study, if not occupied by guests. With such intelligent concepts integrated throughout Sarissa, this all adds up to an optimal usage of every square metre.
Aside from the owner's suite, cabins are configured into two doubles and one twin, with en suite bathrooms, all offering the yacht's warm and comfortable atmosphere. With a separate nanny cabin being available, the number of guests on Sarissa adds up to a company of nine.
Sarissa truly goes beyond the current state of sailing yachts, she embodies a vision of luxury and style, not in abundance but all the more in refined details and, more importantly, smart design.
