ACR Introduces SR203 GMDSS Survival Radio Series

by john Bell on 16 Nov 2011 ACR Electronics today unveils the all new ACR SR203 Survival Radio series which offers multiple use functions covering emergencies, everyday communications and ATIS (Automatic Transmitter Identification System) applications required for vessels making VHF transmissions while navigating inland waterways in Europe.

Built tough for all marine applications and easy to use in an emergency situation, the SR203 is an ideal choice for mandatory and voluntary carriage. The radio’s digital display and control buttons are backlit making operation in low light environment simple. Once activated, the SR203 is automatically tuned to Channel 16 and has a single push Channel 16 call button to quickly return to the emergency channel. Thanks to a highly efficient transmitter, the SR203 features over 16 hours of battery life at -4°F (-20°C).

The innovative battery protection tab featured on the SR203 means the primary battery can be permanently attached to the radio without fear of losing its charge. The radio will always be available for use in times of emergency without the need to remove protective labels before use. Users simply need to break off the red protective tab and the radio will be immediately ready to turn on to Channel 16.

The three SR203 versions, include:

--Product Number 2827—Emergency Use Only Applications. Includes survival radio, replaceable lithium battery and wall mount.

--Product Number 2828—Combination Everyday and/or Emergency Use Applications. Includes survival radio, replaceable lithium battery, rechargeable lithium polymer battery, rapid battery charger (doubles as wall mount) and power adaptors.

--Product Number 2829—ATIS Applications. Includes survival radio, replaceable lithium battery, rechargeable lithium polymer battery, rapid battery charger (doubles as wall mount) and power adaptors.
