Superior Jetties completes project in the UAE

Marine berthing specialist Superior Jetties recently completed the installation of 69 Elite pontoons at the Al Gurm luxury resort in Abu Dhabi (UAE).

The 12m x 2.5m pontoons have been installed as private berths for residential homes and villas, giving residents and guests their own private water access and docking points.

Superior Jetties managing director John Hogan said the company’s joint venture partner in the UAE (Al Masaood trading as Superior Marina Solutions LLC) had combined well to deliver the tried and proven Superior systems while establishing and managing local relationships that ensured efficient customer deliveries.

'We now have a couple of major projects completed in the UAE and we’re looking forward to being involved in further development in the region,' Mr Hogan said.

'The projects we have completed so far have been logistically challenging but our local team on the ground has hit budgets and deadlines consistently and is setting a new benchmark for marina development in the region.

'Our local marina development manager, Phil Hudson, has been doing an excellent job of coordinating the logistics, local manufacturing, assembly and installation.'

Al Gurm (Stage1) is an AED$1 billion eco-friendly development, nestled in a natural mangrove and sandbar habitat on the western edge of Abu Dhabi Island. The resort features a combination of 61 waterfront villas and eight island villas just off the mangrove shore, not far from the main road to Abu Dhabi, making it an ideal local getaway.

Guests and residents arriving at the resort and spa (Stage 2) will arrive by road and via elevated bridge, but will also have the opportunity to come and go by boat, landing on their private jetty.

Superior Jetties’ Elite system is a smartly-finished concrete pontoon, protected by a tough and flexible heavy-duty polyethylene skin that is able to withstand heavy impact. Designed to resist the elements, the floating pontoon system will be a lasting addition to the luxury resort.

Superior Jetties also installed a number of pontoons as service berths for the resort, primarily for supply, logistics and back-of-house operations.
