UK viewers can now watch the 2011 Extreme Sailing Series six part TV series starting this Saturday, 12th November on Channel 4. The six programmes will run over consecutive weeks on Channel 4 and this Saturday’s programme starts with Act 1 in Muscat, Oman. Whilst for international viewers, the fifth programme of the six-part series is now available to air featuring the French Act in Nice. It was an emotional win for the home-team of Groupe Edmond de Rothschild who only secured victory in the final seconds of the final race. Pierre Pennec’s French team will now battle for overall 2011 victory at the final Act in Singapore (7th – 11th December). Bloomberg (pan- Europe), TV2 (Denmark), BETV (Belgium) have already released their broadcast schedules (see below) with more broadcasters around the world confirming their schedules soon. Visit the TV schedule page on the website for more details.

The fourth programme has already aired on CNBC, Bloomberg, TVNZ, Canal+ (France), Nelonen (Finalnd), TV2 (Denmark), Sun Sports Florida and is set to air in Brazil on Band Sports from the 12th November and in South Africa on Supersport from the 8th November (see schedule below). The half-hour programme covers all the action from the Boston, Cowes and Trapani Acts. ‘Home-town boy’ Terry Hutchinson on Artemis lost in the final race to the Dean Barker’s Kiwi crew on Emirates Team Newland Zealand in Boston and Cowes delivered plenty of breeze and drama including a spectacular capsize by the Aberdeen Asset Management team. Then in Trapani Ben Ainslie, Britain’s three-time Olympic gold medalist, made an impressive successful debut.

Full details on the 2012 Extreme Sailing Series will be announced after the final Act of 2011 in Singapore.

Where, when and who? All will be revealed before Christmas but it is no secret that the circuit will re-visit Muscat (Oman), Istanbul (Turkey), Trapani (Italy) and Almeria (Spain) – host venues all on multi-year contracts. Discussions are ongoing with existing 2011 host venues Qingdao (China) and Nice (France) whilst there will be two, if not three, new venues added to the 2012 circuit. The 2012 Notice of Race has already been issued to existing 2011 teams and prospective 2012 teams.
