by Marine Business-World.com on 24 Oct 2011
The PUMA Ocean Racing team’s Volvo Open 70 ’il mostro’ Puma Ocean Racing http://www.pumaoceanracing.com
PUMA's il mostro finished second in the 2008-2009 Volvo Ocean Race. Since this amazing feat, the boat has steadily been updated while being used as a training platform for PUMA Ocean Racing during the summer of 2010.

During that summer il mostro placed second in the Newport-Bermuda Race under ORR.

PUMA's il mostro is being auctioned off to the highest bidder. The auction started on September 30 and concluding on October 30, we will accept bids for one of the fastest VOR boats in the world.

il mostro also has a IRC rating and 'We have been amazed to see that the Volvo 70 can compete in IRC better than anyone ever imagined!' said skipper Ken Read.

Puma's il mostro is the perfect platform for a racing owner wishing to compete in offshore racing both under handicap and as a course record breaker. It is on the Auction block now - auction ends October 30th 2011

Starting price for il mostro is € 800,000 and immediate delivery is available. In order to place a bid, you must submit a €500 registration fee online.

This registration fee will give those registered bidders the right to bid on the vessel. The fee will be refunded to those participants who do not win, and applied towards the final purchase price of the winner.

After your fee is paid, a PUMA representative will be in touch with additional paperwork to be filled out by the bidder. CLICK HERE TO BID

A look at The Ocean Cleanup and its the 30 Cities Program The cliche goes that one should avoid meeting one's heroes, as there's always a chance that the flesh-and-blood person might not live up to expectations. While I've never met Boyan Slat, I'd gladly take this risk.

Double Double
And the rest of the line is not toil and trouble, but quadruple, then another double… On the eve of the 100th Fastnet that has attracted some 464 entries, I heard of one entry in this record fleet that seemed so very apt. Not only because it includes the Commodore of the RORC, but because it combines two Brits and two Aussies.
