It is less than a fortnight until the ACT Capital Insurance Brokers Dinghy Championships.

Over 140 boats are expected to take part in the racing from Canberra Yacht Club on the weekend of the 29th and 30th of October.

The ACT State Championships for a number of classes will be run in conjunction with the ACT Capital Insurance Brokers Dinghy Championships including the NS14s, Spirals, B14s, and Optimists. Other popular classes entered include Tasars, Sharpies, FDs, Flying Fifteens and Lasers.

Traks Gordon will be presenting a seminar focussed on tactics at the CYC on Friday 28th October, from 6pm to 8pm, as well as a coaching clinic for the Laser fleet on Saturday morning. Tom Brewer will be conducting an Optimist coaching clinic for the whole regatta.

Early-bird entries close this Thursday 20th October, so be sure to check out the online entry and NOR via http://www.canberrayachtclub.com.au. Entries will still be accepted up to race day with an additional admin fee.

The annual regatta dinner will be held upstairs at the Canberra Yacht Club on Saturday 29th October. Tickets are $35.00 for a three course meal, and $15 for kids. You can book online via http://www.canberrayachtclub.com.au/adminWeb/registration.asp?eventId=348.

Conditions last year were fantastic for both sailing and sightseeing. The wind so far this season has provided members with some excellent racing as can be seen in the photos.

The greens at the club are a great place for the whole family to watch the racing, with many other vantage points around the Lake. There are numerous tourist attractions as well as the Civic Shopping centre nearby, great for all the non-sailors.

Excellent accommodation packages are available through the Diplomat Hotel in Kingston, with a 15% discount to CYC members and regatta entrants. Be sure to book via the Canberra Yacht Club home page to claim your discount.

We look forward to seeing you in the nation’s capital with the family to enjoy the fantastic spring weather and some great racing for the ACT Capital Insurance Brokers Dinghy Championships.
