Aqualuma is preparing for the worldwide release of its Gen 3 Through-Hull underwater lights, which it will unveil at IBEX, Fort Lauderdale and METS.
According to Carl Amor, co-founder and co-director at Aqualuma, the revolutionary LED underwater lights will go in to production this Friday.
'They are 70% brighter than Gen 2, with all new internals and they are completely upgradable for people with Gen 1. The new lights mean you can use fewer lights, or achieve more output. We have managed to make them punch out further and brighter. They are great for safety, great looking and come with our 3 year international warranty.'
Key to achieving the brighter output, says Carl is the improvements in LED technology and advanced heat distribution, which he says 'enable us to drive them harder and achieve the famous reliability that we have had since day one'.
Internationally through dealers and distributors demand is already high. 'Our Dubai dealer has already ordered both the Gen3 and 12-Series Through Hull lights for superyachts and larger vessels, which will launch in October.'
Carl says among the reasons people like Aqualuma is that 'they’re designed to be upgraded, they are serviceable inside the boat so you don’t have to pull it out of the water, and our warranty is by far the best in the world'.
'We have a ‘no questions asked’, worldwide warranty. They beauty is, we can send a skipper components and they can install the parts themselves. We can Fedex anything around the world in a matter of days. We have a worldwide IP patent on housing in 127 countries.'
Despite the popularity of the Aqualuma range, Carl admits 'things are down a little bit at the moment', like most marine enterprises.
'But we have continued to keep up our brand presence. We have put the money back in to marketing, as opposed to laying low. That is the reason for our recent win for best Marine Industry Export Marketing Strategy at the 2011 Club Marine Australian Marine Industry Export Awards.'
All Aqualuma products are manufactured in Australia on Queensland’s Gold Coast.
Carl and Grant Amor are planning to attend the Cannes and Monaco Yacht Shows next year, probably at the expense of some other shows.
'Next year will be a big push in to Europe, visiting the big manufacturers and showing them what we can do.'
But there are plenty of innovations and launches before the end of this year, says Carl. 'Watch out for fourth quarter of 2011. We will be launching four to five new products including some dock and marina products, engine room lighting and a new surface mount.'
