Qld Season of Sailing Tourism Queensland
Queensland’s Season of Sailing has been making it easy to come onboard to stay and sail in the state’s world-class sailing destinations.

Now in its second year, the Season of Sailing aimed to attract visitors to sailing events in Brisbane, Sunshine Coast, Central Queensland, the Whitsundays and Townsville being held from April 22 to September 6.

Ambassador and Young Australian of the Year Jessica Watson launched the 2011 Queensland Season of Sailing campaign earlier this year with Queensland Minister for Tourism, Manufacturing and Small Business Jan Jarratt.

Ms Jarratt said 'Queensland is Australia's premier sailing destination and this campaign encompasses a wide range of stay and sail experiences. The premise behind this year's campaign is to encourage visitors to experience a sailing event and book a holiday package with their friends and family,'

Events on the 2011 Season of Sailing Calendar included:
Brisbane to Gladstone - April 22-24
Etchells Australasian Winter Championship - June 9 -12
Brisbane to Keppel - August 5-8
Airlie Race Week - August 12-18
Hamilton Island Race Week -August 19-27
Magnetic Island Race Week - September 1-6

Ms Jarratt said Tourism Queensland was thrilled to have Jessica Watson onboard again as the 2011 Queensland Season of Sailing ambassador.

'Jessica is a genuine Queensland inspiration who has developed an international profile, which makes her the perfect fit for Queensland's Season of Sailing campaign. She is also a proud Queenslander who has the ability to raise the profile of Queensland's Season of Sailing even further in 2011.'

Jessica is pleased to continue in her role as ambassador. 'It’s really easy being an ambassador for something you love. The Queensland Season of Sailing campaign is building momentum and the increasing participation statistics is great news for both Queensland and for the sport of sailing,' she said.
