Audi Hamilton Island Race Week Day One - right out of the Brochure

by www.sail-world.com on 20 Aug 2011
Wild Oats XI coming around Condor of Bermuda - Audi Hamilton Island Race Week 2011 Day One Sail-World.com /AUS http://www.sail-world.com
Audi Hamilton Island Race Week Day One.

It was a day right out of a Whitsundays Sailing Brochure, 10-15 knots and glorious sunshine for the 23 nautical mile Lindeman Island Race.

Lots of interesting boats to see from the radical canting keeler Q, to the Kiwi trimaran TeamVodafoneSailing.

The focus was on the IRC division as this is the final leg of the Audi IRC Nationals. In Class A it was a perfect start for Marcus Blackmore's TP52 Hooligan taking the handicap win from Stephen Ainsworth's Loki with Michael Hiatt's Living Doll down at seventh.

In IRC Class B Daryl Hodgkinson's Victoire is battling against Rob Reynold's Exile for the top placing and today Victoire stretched ahead with a second, while Exile finished sixth.

In IRC Class C, a good result for Andy Kearnan's L'Altradonna who won today, with series leader Peter Sorensen in third place.
