In your futuristic dreams

On show in Monaco September 2011. SW
Long known for its offshore speedboats, Spire has allowed avant guarde designer, Thierry Mugler – whose penchant for spikes, flamboyant padding and elongated line on the catwalk made him a favourite with celebs like Madonna and supermodels the likes of Naomi, Linda and Elle – to create yet another incarnation of his ethos of 'dreamlike works of art'.

The Mugler Spire Boat is a 9.5m speedboat that will seat four people and can reportedly exceed 90 knots (170km/h), thanks to a lightweight construction borrowed from its racing pedigree. It comes with the choice of twin engines, 200 to 350hp each.

Making its debut at the Monaco Yacht Show in September, the Mugler Spire Boat has been designed as an attention grabbing tender, but will surely suffice as a sexy standalone vessel, more reminiscent of a rocket that a race boat.

Design Director, Christophe DeLataillade describes the boat as 'the fun of speedboating enhanced with shameless aesthetic statement'.

'With a 360° vision that touches all senses, Thierry Mugler is always likely to transport you somewhere. His aesthetic sensitivity, combined with an acute sense of ergonomy, open on to an endless field of design and architecture possibilities. ‘Fly me to the moon’ could be the motto of the new Mugler Studio création (in association with Spire Boat), the Mugler Spire Boat tender. With its racy retro-futuristic lines and adornments, the Mugler Spire Boat plays with ambiguity and strong allusion, evoking a spacecraft as well as a 1950s sportscar.'
