The new look Learn to Sail Andrew Clouston
Yachting New Zealand has published a new Dinghy Learn to Sail syllabus to replace the old Learn to Sail Log Book.

The new syllabus is in two levels; Start... Sailing! (Learn to Sail 1) where sailors learn the basics and Sailing... Fast! (Learn to Sail 2) where sailors improve on new found skills and become faster sailors.

This new syllabus is a big step up. It has lots of information on not just Opti’s but windsurfers, two handed boats and accessible classes such as the Access Dinghy. The book has great diagrams, illustrations and photos; it includes ideas for games and exercises and notes section for coaches. It is also in COLOUR!

Clubs and other affiliated organisations order the books in exactly the same way they did with the old books, the cost is $14 and the pack includes the book, a colour certificate for each level and a wall chart.

Keep an eye out for more resources to help run programme including a programme management/tracking spreadsheet and drill/exercise templates. More information to come soon...

We are currently producing Go... Racing! (Learn to Sail 3) the next step in the Learn to Sail programme, a learn to race syllabus to follow on from Level 2. We expect to have this available to clubs in September.
