Stunning green season monsoonal sailing at the Lady Pie Series, hosted by the Phuket Yacht Club. - Lady Pie Series - Tasar Sailing in Phuket Event Media
The first race in the three race Lady Pie Series saw typical green season monsoonal winds off Ao Yon, Phuket, producing plenty of interest for competitors, spectators and race management alike.
Lots of thrills and spills characterised the three races on 12th June race day with some close racing amongst the Phuket Tasar fleet and some new faces taking part. Capsizes while crews were on full hike added to the spectator excitement. The Tasar race at times resembled that of an AC45 on San Francisco Bay!
The tough conditions saw Slipstream, skippered by Andrew de Bruin, take three firsts and an early lead in the Lady Pie Series. Seakitt Casschris (what a name!) took a close fought second in all three races and secured a good start to the series. G-String finished 4,3,3 and Lady Pie 3,5,4, not making it to the startline for the second race.
While Lord Pie was competing out on the water, Lady Pie company made shore all were duly fed once ashore with the best Aussie pies to be found in Asia!
The three-event Lady Pie series continues on 3rd July and finishes 17th August 2011. Anyone interested in joining the Tasar fleet, contact Class Captain, Andrew de Bruin, on andrew(at)leemarine.net.
